Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan on Thursday in the assembly said that the 39 deaths reported in the Cherthala Taluk in Alappuzha district were due to Chikungunya.
The false reports received by the Health Minister PK Sreemathy from respective officials was actually compelling her to deny the outbreak of the fatal disease in the area earlier, VS informed the Assembly.
