There has been another confirmed flu-related death in Southeast Georgia, the state health department said.

The victim, who was identified only as an adult woman, died in Chatham County, the Coastal Health District said.

About two weeks ago, the Waycross-based Southeast Health District announced a Coffee County woman had died of flu.

Thus far, 31 people have died of flu in Georgia, the Georgia Department of Public Health said.

Physician Diane Weems, medical director of the Coastal Health District, said a flu shot could still provide protection.
