Charges against NewsNation reporter Evan Lambert covering East Palestine chemical disaster have been dismissed

Frightened, right. That's the same excuse they used when they shot and killed unarmed students at Kent State. Yes, some of us still remember. It couldn't be that the General was frightened by the fact that at least one national news reporter had shown up to cover the handling of the spill that the National Guard had one of the major roles in orchestrating?

They should consider quickly dropping their bogus charges against the reporter or the public might think the local police or the National Guard has something to hide, rather than the railroad or its regulators.

Former police chief ‘disgusted’ by video of reporter arrest

EAST PALESTINE, Ohio (NewsNation) — A former police chief says he’s “disgusted” by the bodycam video showing the arrest of a NewsNation reporter.
“It is infuriating as a veteran law enforcement officer, even though I’m retired, to see a power trip like that. It’s reprehensible to think that the people that we entrust with not only our country’s security, but that city’s security, that they would just trample over the First Amendment rights of a reporter simply doing his job,” former Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee said on “On Balance with Leland Vittert.”
Authorities arrested Evan Lambert after he delivered a live news report Wednesday in East Palestine, Ohio, about a train derailment. Law enforcement told him to stop because Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine started a news conference inside the school gym where Lambert was giving his report...

My thoughts are that extreme stress, grief and possible exposure to chemical fumes in the air may have contributed to uncharacteristic behavior of those involved. I'm glad the charges were dropped because the real culprit here is the Norfolk Southern railroad and possibly national spending priorities. That needs to be the focus.

(NewsNation) — Charges against NewsNation reporter Evan Lambert have been dismissed, the Ohio attorney general said Wednesday.
“While journalists could conceivably be subject to criminal charges for trespassing in some situations, this incident is not one of them,” Attorney General Dave Yost said in a statement. “The reporter was lawfully present at a press conference called by the governor of the state. His conduct was consistent with the purpose of the event and his role as a reporter.”...
