April 15, 2011 - Charcuterie La Tour Eiffel of Montreal, Canada, is voluntarily recalling all Summersweet seafood mousses and dips because the products have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems...
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products. However, as a precautionary measure, Charcuterie La Tour Eiffel is voluntarily recalling all lot numbers of the following products from the marketplace:
Smoked Salmon & Spinach Mousse
Mousse smoked Salmon & Spinach
Mousse smoked salmon & dill
Crab & Roasted Red Pepper Dip
Lobster & shrimp Dip
Smoked Salmon & Artichoke dip
Crab & Fine Herb Dip
Mardi Gras shrimp Dip
The recalled mousses and dips are packaged in various sizes, sold in retail outlets, and distributed in New York, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Florida, California and Texas. Consumers are advised to return the product to the store where it was purchased for a full refund.
The potential for contamination was noted after samples from two lot codes of salmon & spinach mousse tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. All products from those lot codes were placed on immediate hold and were not released into the marketplace. All production of Summersweet mousses and dips has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation to determine the source of the problem...
