Chad-Coronavirus: the message of the Head of State to the Nation
Posted on 24.03.2020 at 5:24 pm by journaldutchad.com
Idriss Deby, President of the Republic of Chad.
The Republic of Chad registers three cases of coronavirus, face pandemic which is gaining in the world, the Head of State addressed to the Chadians. The entirety of his speech on journaldutchad.com.
- Chadians, Chadians;
- My dear compatriots
For the past few months, the entire planet has been facing a serious health crisis. New cases of coronavirus contamination are recorded every day around the world.
Chad, previously spared, thanks to the measures taken upstream, recorded on this date, three cases of infection with Covid-19.
I know that this rapidly spreading disease worries us all. As you know, coronavirus is a dangerous disease that causes an acute respiratory attack that can lead to death if it is not properly treated.
This is why, we all must be serious and responsible for a rapid and effective control of this scourge.
In this dynamic of mobilization for prevention and response, the Health Watch and Security Committee works hard and in synergy with the medical teams in the field and the partners.
A contingency plan and the fight against the coronavirus up to CFAF 15 billion has been developed thanks to the technical support of our partners. It will be financed by our own resources and the contribution of international solidarity. To this end, I have set up a special fund for the fight against the coronavirus.
As you already know, a number of necessary measures, such as closing land borders and suspending air links with the exception of freighters, have been taken to prevent the incursion of covid19 into our country.
After the first proven case, we decided to close all public and private schools and universities, places of worship, bars, restaurants and all places likely to bring together a good number of people and promote the spread of the virus.
If the circumstances require it, we will have to take other more rigorous measures tending to the total containment.
My dear compatriots,
I know that in addition to the health uncertainty that haunts us, we face another equally troubling situation. These are the economic and financial impacts that could change the course of our daily lives.
Many economic operators, owners of restaurants and owners of bars and other businesses suffer incalculable damage following the economic downturn in their activities.
I would, however, deplore the behavior of some crooked traders who engage in an unacceptable practice by illegally raising the prices of basic foodstuffs.
I firmly instruct the competent services in order to track down and bring to justice all the traders moved by the lure of easy gain.
Price surveillance operations must be intensified throughout the national territory to put an end to this practice which does not honor the private sector.
My dear compatriots,
While paying close attention to the economic repercussions of the pandemic, the Government is deeply concerned about the closure of educational establishments.
We fully measure the effects of a more or less long period of inactivity on the school calendar and the consolidation of learning.
This is why the ministries concerned are instructed to reflect and to propose a realistic and suitable scenario to allow our children to complete their academic year in good conditions when the situation is restored.
Chadians, Chadians;
Faithful to their oath and their vocation, the doctors, nurses, paramedics and rescuers of the Chad Red Cross, in short the entire medical profession, are involved daily in order to ensure the health security of all.
I salute this eminently patriotic sacrifice which deserves the recognition of the whole nation. We must all, in this regard, live up to the commitment of all of our worthy health actors by applying the various measures recommended.
I insist on the usual rules of hygiene, namely hand washing which is a simple but extremely precious gesture for the prevention of the disease.
Likewise, we should avoid shaking hands when greeting each other and exposing our brothers and sisters to our sneezing. We must always maintain a certain safety distance in our interpersonal exchanges.
Each of us must be a bulwark against this virus. And it is obviously an absolute imperative which calls for individual and collective responsibility.
On this subject, I deplore the marked carelessness and manifest lack of civility that some people are currently showing.
We must all be strongly involved in popularizing awareness messages for the long-awaited change in behavior.
I urge you to translate the protection and prevention messages into our different national languages to reach a large audience.
This awareness and communication approach is extremely important in the current phase of the fight, but it must be done with full responsibility.
Unfortunately, we note that social networks, instead of disseminating information from good sources, authentic and verified, are devoted to misinformation and manipulation, thus sowing doubt, panic and psychosis.
I caution everyone who engages in this criminal practice.
Chadians, Chadians;
My dear compatriots
In the face of adversity, we must be vigilant, disciplined, united and united.
I am convinced that the Chadian people who have gone through so much hardship will undoubtedly be able to be strong in the face of the pandemic.
God bless Chad.
Long live the Republic.
