BIRD FLU Grabbed 13 Lives In Central Java

SEMARANG - The 13-known people in Central Java died of bird flu disease. Most of the victims died after adolescence. This was revealed during a meeting Health Department (DHO) in Central Java Central Java DPRD Commission E Diamond Street House of Heroes, City of Jakarta, Tuesday (02/07/2012).
Based on data from Central Java health office, during 2005-2011 recorded 120 people stated suspect bird flu, but who tested positive for avian influenza (AI) as many as 14 people. Of the 14 men, 13 died. With details of 2006 as many as three people; 2007 as many as five people; 2008 three people; 2009 and 2010 respectively one person.
Death of the victim is spread over 10 regions, namely Wonogiri; Sukoharjo; Sragen; Boyolali, Semarang regency; Grobogan; Semarang; Kendal; Pemalang, and Waterfall. "In 2011 there were eight people with bird flu supsek, but after the treatment was positive for the H5N1 virus, was until early 2012 there was no suspect AI," said Head of Central Java health office, Anung Sugiantono.
He said the bird flu transmission to humans include bird feces or secreta that pollute the air and hand handlers. Mucus or fluid material through the nostrils or mouth, eyes feces of sick birds, as well as to direct the cattle sick, through the air, splashing fluid or mucus, and liquid vomit.
"It is also through water and contaminated equipment AI virus," he said.
For the handling of bird flu, said Anung, has been distributed to 35 districts / cities namely Tamiflu (a drug for bird flu), personal protective equipment, books integration of surveillance, investigation kit , and guidelines for clinical management of H5N1 in the hospital.
"As well prepared as many as 20 hospitals (RS) referral patients with bird flu," he said. The 20 hospitals were included, RSUP Kariadi, Semarang; Margono Soekarjo Hospital, Navan; Hospital dr Moewardi, Solo; Hospital Banyumas; Soewondo Hospital, Kendal; Hospital Kraton, Pekalongan; Ghost Hospital, Hospital Dr H Susilo RM, Slawi, RSU Tidar, Magelang; RSU Suraji Tirtonegoro, Klaten.
In addition Jepara Kartini Hospital; Purworejo Hospital; Hospital Suwondo Pati, Semarang City Hospital; Hospital Wonogiri; Hospital Grobogan; Kardinah Tegal District Hospital; Hospital Cilacap; Hospital Semarang Tugurejo; and Lung Hospital Ngawen.
