Central African Republic - New Government Plan

Quick translation:

The Central African Government has published a new plan to prevent the emergence of bird flu. It details 15 measures, among which:

- import restrictions of poultry and poultry products from affected countries;

- creation of a Pilot Committee headed by the Prime Minister;

- creation of an Interministerial Technical Committee to elaborate prevention programmes and put in place the import restrictions of poultry;

- the catching of wild birds is forbidden;

- surveillance of poultry commercial operations;

- awareness campaigns;

- increased surveillance of migratory movements at the borders.

The Central African Republic Government has taken these steps because of the risk of bird flu dangers in nearby Nigeria.
