Central African Republic (CAR): a flu epidemic observed in Bangui?

Bangui January 24, 2024—(Ndjoni Sango): For some time now in Bangui and its surroundings, a flu phenomenon has been felt when we try to make the observation. Many people suffer from it, so much so that we wonder if it is an epidemic, since the Ministry of Health has not yet made a decision.

The harmful effects of the dry season impact the daily lives of many Central Africans at a time when dust invades much of Bangui. This is felt by the drying out of the skin, the variable temperatures, but above all the excessive rise in the flu which affects most people in Bangui and several other localities.

According to several people who are victims of this phenomenon, it is the dust raised following the deterioration of the roads which is at the origin of this increase in the flu: “It has been almost two weeks since this flu has not left me. It all started with the itch inside my neck and then I coughed constantly. I thought I was the only person affected, but when I tried to tour the areas, I realized that several people are affected by this flu phenomenon. So I am taking this opportunity to appeal to our health authorities to take stock of this case, but also to ask for the rehabilitation of the roads in order to reduce dust which also causes other diseases,” notes Martin . Ngoukoumba , a teacher.

This observation comes after most people suffer from this flu and cough incessantly and some think of the dust which invades the localities and others believe they are victims of a new epidemic.
