I found the Twitter account of the American businessman CBC thinks is the origin of the conspiracy theory and he is a hedge fund manager with interests in Hong Kong.

The hedge fund manager above tweeted a disturbing Zerohedge attack on a scientist that urged people to pay him a visit or at least email or phone and gave the contacts. I did some checking and found out this about the hedge fund manager:

Putting a short squeeze on an economy the size of China's seems dangerous to me and so would a trend to incite against and scapegoat a scientist. Where will that end?
 
Merci, dans toutes les crises , cela existe. Pour limiter cela il faut culturellement passer de la science des risques ? celle des dangers. Aux USA , vous avez fait na?tre la m?thode H.A.C.C.P . Mais il y a encore beaucoup trop de personne qui se gausse dans la science des risques... Cette crise est la preuve que la Chine est un grand pays avec une immense culture et qu'elle va induire un changement de fonctionnement de bien des instances internationales...
