....Since the last update from the Public Health Department on 22 December 2012, four new cases were under investigation as of 5 January. None of the new suspected cases have travel history to an endemic area, meaning that if they do have dengue fever, they would have acquired it from a bite from an infected mosquito locally. The new cases involve three residents from George Town and one from Bodden Town...

Only about 35 per cent of the respondents to last week?s cayCompass.com online poll are taking any more precautions against contracting dengue fever even though the mosquito-borne disease is now considered endemic to the Cayman Islands.

According to statistics released by the Cayman Islands Public Health Department, 36 residents of the Cayman Islands have contracted dengue fever since last September. Although 12 of those people had travelled to countries where dengue is endemic and it is thought they contracted the disease off-island, the other 24 people contracted the disease in Grand Cayman, with the majority being residents of West Bay.

Other confirmed cases have been identified in residents of George Town and Bodden Town...

In the last week of January alone some 15 new cases were investigated none of which travel history to endemic countries and three of those patients had were admitted to hospital...

Four new dengue cases confirmed

Test results received this week on suspected cases of dengue fever in the Cayman Islands confirmed four ?positive? results, bringing the total number of dengue infections here since last year to 40.

All four cases were locally transmitted, health officials determined, because none had any travel history. Five other test results received this week were found to be negative...

Aedes_aegypti_feeding (234x300).jpg(CNS): With only two new suspected cases reported to authorities this week and all four of the latest test results received by the authorities turning out to be negative the transmission of dengue fever locally maybe slowing down. Public health officials said Thursday that two new cases are now under investigation for dengue during the week of February 3-9. Meanwhile, four results were received during this week from the Caribbean Public Health Agency and all were negative for dengue. These results are included in the 33 cases which have been investigated so far this year, officials added in the latest update on local infections...

No new confirmed cases of dengue reported since mid-January

No new confirmed cases of dengue fever have been reported since 18 January.

Since the first reported case of dengue in this outbreak occurred last September, 127 cases have been investigated ? 94 between September and December 2012 and 33 so far this year.

The Cayman Islands Public Health Department received the lab results of four suspected cases last week from the Caribbean Public Health Agency, previously known as the Caribbean Epidemiology Centre, or CAREC. All four tested negative for dengue...

The Public Health Department has confirmed that one more person has contracted dengue fever after being bitten by a mosquito in the Cayman Islands.

Seven other suspected cases reported during the week of 10-16 February remain under investigation...

(CNS): Another two people with no travel history to country where dengue fever is endemic are suspected to have contracted the disease transmitted by mosquitoes locally. According to public health officials 42 suspected cases of the fever have already been investigated so far this year following on from the 94 cases reported last year. The latest two patients were not residents of West Bay where most of those who have contracted the disease locally have stayed but one was from Bodden Town and the other George Town. Neither patient has been admitted to hospital...

Total cases investigated for dengue in 2012 is 94 and 42 for 2013.
Since the last update as of February 16, 2013, there had been two new cases under investigation for dengue, during the week of February 17-23, 2013. None had a travel history to an endemic area; there were no admissions to the hospital; one was a resident of George Town, and one from Bodden Town.
Eleven results were received during this week from the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) previously known as the Caribbean Epidemiology Centre (CAREC). One was positive for dengue, with the onset on January 25, 2013.
The total results received thus far are: 121 cases with results (42 positives, 75 negatives, and 4 inconclusive) with 15 results awaiting...

The Public Health Department has confirmed one new case of dengue fever during its latest update on the outbreak, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the Cayman Islands to 43.

The new confirmed case involved a patient who contracted dengue in September last year.

(CNS): Government health officials said that they believe the outbreak of dengue fever in Cayman which started early last year has come to an end. No new cases have been reported over the last week and most of the results that have returned from the Caribbean Public Health Agency of recent weeks have been negative with only two case results now pending the public health department believes the seasonal outbreak is over...

Cayman Islands public health officials said Thursday that one confirmed case of dengue fever was brought into the islands by a visitor.

Tests being conducted on a second possible case are still being conducted.

Since July there have been a total of five cases investigated for dengue, three of which were ruled negative by the Caribbean Public Health Agency...
