Santiago today had 49 more registered cases of COVID-19 while in Sal more 13 were detected nationally, according to the website that monitors data on the disease in Cape Verde, rises to 1226.

Among the 62 positive cases of COVID-19 recorded today, the majority (31 cases) are people between 20 and 30 years old. The second largest group is in the age group between 30 and 40 years old, with 12 cases registered.

Of the 62 cases diagnosed today, 31 are people residing in Praia, 10 in Santa Cruz, 8 in Santa Catarina and 13 in Sal.

With this update advanced by the website that monitors the disease in Cape Verde, the capital now has 273 active cases, Santa Cruz has 72 active cases, Santa Catarina has 26 and Sal has 205 active cases.

Since Saturday, Cape Verde has registered a total of 200 new cases of COVID-19 and since the State of Emergency ended in late May, 686 cases have been reported across the country.

At national level there are 602 active cases, 608 recovered and 14 deaths, the last of which was recorded last night. According to information provided by the health delegate of Praia, Ulardina Furtado, the RCV was a 70-year-old patient who suffered from kidney problems and was admitted to the Agostinho Neto Hospital. Also yesterday, the National Director of Health, Artur Correia, had already announced the death of a person "over 80 years old who was admitted to the Agostinho Neto Hospital" where he died. "I had been a victim of a stroke and had other associated diseases."

Two foreign patients, a Dutch tourist and an Englishman, companion of the first person to be diagnosed with the disease and also the first deadly victim to be registered in the country, who were diagnosed with the disease, were transferred to their countries of origin.

40 more confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Cape Verde

Cape Verde today registered 40 more positive cases of COVID-19, of which 30 in Praia, four in Santa Catarina de Santiago, one in Ribeira Grande de Santiago and five in Sal.

According to the epidemiological bulletin released today by the Ministry of Health and Social Security, in the 256 samples analyzed in the virology laboratories in Praia and S?o Vicente, 40 new cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed, but 216 tested negative.

At the virology laboratory in Praia, 209 samples were analyzed and, of these, 35 positive and 174 negative cases emerged. At the S?o Vicente virology laboratory, 47 samples were analyzed and five positive and 42 negative cases were diagnosed.

The Ministry of Health and Social Security reports that the samples analyzed in Praia are from the 24th to the 30th of June and those from S?o Vicente are from the 30th of June.

With the updated data, the country now counts 1267 accumulated positive cases of COVID-19, 621 active cases, 629 recovered cases and 15 deaths.

Guardianship reinforces the call for people to stay at home and take appropriate care to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The COVID-19 pandemic has killed 511,312 people and has infected more than 10.5 million worldwide since December, according to an AFP agency report, at 11.00 am GMT today, based on official country data.

Praia, 02 Jul 2020 (Lusa) - Cape Verde recorded 34 more positive cases of the new coronavirus, of which 32 on the island of Santiago, bringing the cumulative national total to 1,301 infections since March 19, the Ministry of Health announced today.

In a statement, the Ministry of Health and Social Security said that the country's two virology laboratories had analyzed 257 samples collected since June 24 and 34 tested positive for covid-19.

Of the total samples, there are 217 negatives and six results from patients in follow-up without changes.

Positive cases were diagnosed on the islands of Santiago (32), distributed by the municipalities of Praia (19), Santa Catarina (11) and Santa Cruz (2), and one in Sal and another in S?o Nicolau.

With these new 34 cases, the country now counts 1,301 accumulated since March 19.

Of the total, there are 655 active cases, in isolation, two patients transferred to their countries and 15 deaths.
