A second covid patient with the Omicron variant confirmed, despite having not travelled to at risk countries

The Canary Islands Health Service has this Thursday evening confirmed a second case of the omicron variant strain in the archipelago. Just two days ago the health administration reported the first case of the Covid-19 omicron variant registered on the Canary Islands.

The discovery of the variant on Tenerife was accidental, through simple screening, as the water company worker had not previously travelled to any risk countries, and is now placed under self isolation for monitoring. A total of 11 people are currently being studied, of which only one has required hospital admission.
