TORONTO - A new poll suggests interest in swine flu vaccine is decreasing in Canada, with only a third of people saying they plan to get vaccinated when the shots are available.
That's down from a previous survey done in late August, when 45 per cent of respondents said they planned to get an H1N1 flu shot.
The Canadian Press Harris-Decima poll suggests Canadians aren't all that worried about the new flu virus, with only 11 per cent saying they are very concerned and 36 per cent saying they are somewhat concerned.
In fact, the data suggest people feel they are more likely to be exposed to seasonal flu viruses this fall and winter than to H1N1, even though the new virus has dominated globally since it emerged last spring.
Half of respondents say they won't get any flu shot at all this winter and 27 per cent say they would get both.
The pollsters interviewed 1,000 people across the country for the survey, which was conducted between October 1 and 5 and which has a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
