New media distorted my recent MBE paper

Published on April 14, 2020
Xuhua Xia

The paper published by Molecular Biology and Evolution is entitled "Extreme genomic CpG deficiency in SARS-CoV-2 and evasion of host antiviral defense", available at DOI: 10.1093/molbev/msaa094.

Many journalists did not read this paper and imagined what it reported. This has resulted in many misunderstandings in news articles with misleading titles that distorted what I said in the paper. There are also some so-called experts who have trotted out criticisms without reading the paper. If one does not want to read the original paper, please at least read my answers to media questions related to this paper at http://dambe.bio.uottawa.ca/publications/Q_A.pdf
