Social media is being blamed for Alberta's sexually transmitted infection rates spiking to levels not seen since the 1980s.
Gonorrhea and syphilis have reached "outbreak levels," said Dr. Karen Grimsrud, Alberta's chief medical officer of health.
Overall, cases of gonorrhea in the province rose 80 per cent, from just under 2,000 cases in 2014, to 3,500 cases in 2015.
The number of cases of syphilis more than doubled, from 150 cases in 2014 to 350 cases in 2015.
