The Minister of Public Health, Malachie Manaouda announced that a case had been registered in the Far North region.

On April 29, 2020, the Far North region officially lost its status as the only region in the country to be spared the Coronavirus pandemic. On the social network Twitter, Malachie Manaouda, the Minister of Public Health announced that the administrative district recorded its very first confirmed case of Covid-19.

"The Far North region has just registered its first confirmed case. Contact tracing is in progress. Now is the time more than ever to strictly observe the barrier measures and the wearing of the mandatory mask. Protect yourself and protect us, stay at home, "he tweeted yesterday evening.

With this new infection, all 10 regions of Cameroon are now affected by the disease. For the record, the current assessment of the covid-19 pandemic on the national territory, reports 1832 confirmed cases, 934 cured and 59 deaths.

Cameroon / Covid-19: 2,954 cases including 139 deaths recorded on May 13, 2020
Posted: May 14, 2020 to Updated: May 14, 2020 by Alain Nwaha 2

114 people were also tested positive.

During the traditional daily press briefing on the epidemiological situation of Covid-19, Dr Fanne Mahamat indicated that 114 new cases had been recorded on May 13, 2020. The director of health promotion at the Ministry of Public Health, revealed that 10 patients recovered and 3 others died.

To date, Cameroon has recorded 2954 confirmed cases, 1553 cured and 139 deaths. Constantly increasing figures which reflect a loosening by the populations of the barrier measures against the pandemic. Since the implementation of flexibility measures by the government on April 30, including the opening beyond 6 p.m. of drinking places and places of pleasure, contaminations with the deadly virus have started to rise again.

A paradox when the pandemic is in its phase 2, that is to say within communities. We fear the worst in the coming days if the government does not take responsibility. He plans to crack down on those who do not wear masks in public space. Health officials continue to advocate strict adherence to barrier measures, including regular hand washing with clean running water and soap and routine wearing of the mask. Let's be vigilant!

Cameroon - Coronavirus: Jean Paul Tchomdou (Communication Expert) recommends “Street marketing” to optimize the fight against the pandemic
By Yannick A. KENNE | Cameroon-Info.Net
YAOUNDE - 19-May-2020 - 1:40 pm 226

The President of the Cameroon Association of Marketing Professionals (ACPM) is proposing a proximity campaign among the populations, and also suggests an effective decentralization of the response in an attempt to stem the surge in statistics at the local level.

The figures for the Coronavirus pandemic in Cameroon are growing exponentially, and as of May 18, 2020, 3,529 cases tested positive, against 140 deaths. The insufficient efforts of the public authorities betray shortcomings that remain in the response plan, especially in the communication plan. This is the sense of advocacy led for some time by Communication Expert Jean Paul Tchomdou, who thinks that the government must change its orientation in raising awareness among the populations, who are more casually illustrated while respecting barrier measures .

For the president of the Cameroonian Association of Marketing Professionals (ACPM), communication through conventional media (radio, press, TV), or social networks, presents flaws that only "street marketing" can resolve. "" The customer journey "of the average Cameroonian shows that he goes through bars, markets, etc. It's time to optimize the com ’through" Street marketing ". Any communication constructed without taking into account consumption habits "media" (extended in the broadest sense of media) is doomed to failure. It all starts and ends with the target, ”he analyzes in a production published on his Facebook page.

Clearly, this TV producer is proposing to the public authorities to change their strategy and opt for proximity campaigns, by deploying teams on the ground to raise awareness, in order to encourage behavior change among a recalcitrant audience. Also, Jean-Paul Tchombou calls for greater involvement of mayors and their deputies, through actions that directly contribute to the government's response plan, which remains enshrined in centrality in management.
