An unknown disease has killed 60 children in Cambodia
An unidentified disease has killed 60 children in Cambodia last three months, said Tuesday the World Health Organization (WHO), specifying work with local health authorities on this issue "worrisome".

"The number of deaths reported to WHO is 60 and it was for all young children," said Dr Nima Asgari, public health specialist for the UN agency in Phnom Penh, evoking a first case in April. Only one documented case has survived. WHO and the Ministry of Health are trying "to identify the cause of the disease and its propagation path," he added.
"L" WHO worries "
Without precise diagnosis for now, he described a high fever, symptoms at chest level and "signs of neurological implications" in some children. "WHO is always concerned when there is a disease that causes death in so many children," added the doctor.
The regional headquarters of the WHO in Manila has confirmed technical assistance to the Cambodian government in collecting and analyzing information, case investigation and clinical management. The children, aged 7 and under, living Phnom Penh and the tourist town of Siean Ream (north).
No cases of infection have been detected so far from patients or hospital staff in contact with victims.
