The battle against flu has been extended to another school in East Tennessee.

Students and staff at Campbell County Schools were told Friday to not come to school Tuesday to help reduce the spread of influenza and other illnesses, Karen Bundren, the school's federal programs director said.

Campbell County is the latest in a growing list of school systems that have closed to help officials control the spread of illnesses.

Alcoa City schools closed Tuesday and are scheduled to remain closed through Labor Day.

First Baptist Academy in Powell, Maryville Christian School and Blount County Schools joined the list Wednesday.

An up-to-date list of school closings can be found here.

NOTE: There are 1710 public schools in Campbell County
