After last Monday, the Popocatepetl volcano threw incandescent material in the crater, tranquility prevails in the area considered at risk, as the Colossus only has kept the issue of low-intensity smokers. However, the State Institute of Civil Protection (IEPC) is alert and in close communication with municipalities to remain vigilant in prevention efforts.
This was reported by Jesus Hernandez Mendoza, head of the Regional Office in Tetela IEPC Volcano, who said he continues to send to municipalities monitoring report by the National Center for Disaster Prevention (Cenapred) for use in prevention efforts.
Noted that in recent 24 hours Popocatepetl registered 8 low-intensity exhalations accompanied by the emission of steam and gas, which were not visible most of Thursday because of the prevailing cloudy.
He noted that during the journeys made by the areas near the volcano, we could not see the ash fall, but remains active communication with the municipal units of Civil Protection in order to be attentive to the behavior of Popocat?petl.
Meanwhile, the state reiterated Cenapred Traffic Light Yellow Volcanic Alert Phase 2, with a recommendation to the Civil Protection authorities to maintain preventive procedures, in accordance with their operational plans, as well as stay tuned to official information disseminated.
Also, do not rule out the possibility of new moderate exhalations with ash emissions, some low-level explosions of incandescent material issue in the coming days.
