Editor-in-Chief & President
Salvation Army Offers Free Class on Disaster Preparedness

This event is being sponsored by the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts from the Tehachapi area and The Salvation Army Tehachapi Service Extension.

Meet 25 year seasoned veteran and disaster responder, Major David Ebel, who can help us be ready for whatever events may come our way. Learn the newest concepts and ideas in Disaster Preparation which will allow you to be prepared at home and in your community.

Major Ebel has been serving Kern County for 6 years in his assignment as Kern County Coordinator which allows him to respond to emergencies and disasters both small and large. He has been an active Firefighter Chaplain and is a Trained Trainer in disaster mental health counseling.

In addition, Major David Ebel is the founding chairman of the Kern County VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters) which helps Kern County disaster based agencies share resources and ideas that can save lives and property.

The class is free but the knowledge you will gain is priceless. We will be training and equipping local citizens in disaster response and preparedness and the use of The Salvation Army Disaster Response Canteen which will be on display. This unit was used to feed evacuees during the Katrina Hurricane disaster for months.
