A man has died because of the flu in Stanislaus County, county health officials said. This is the first flu-related death in the county this season.

The man was under the age of 65, the Stanislaus County Health Services Agency said.

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Flu-related deaths rose to 11 in San Diego County over the last week, according to the County Health and Human Services Agency.

The agency reports that the latest flu death was a 51-year-old woman from North County who died on December 31. She had underlying medical conditions, health officials confirm.

Long Beach announces first flu-related death of the season, urges residents to get flu shots

A Long Beach resident under the age of 50, with underlying health conditions, has died of a flu-related illness, officials announced Wednesday, Jan. 8.

It was the city’s first flu-associated death this season. Public health officials did not disclose when the person died. They also did not provide the person’s name or gender.

SALINAS, Calif. —
The Monterey County Health Department confirmed the county's third influenza death of the 2019-20 season, Wednesday morning. It's the first flu death of the year at the Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital.

According to Karina Rusk, with SVMH, one person died at the Salinas hospital from the flu. No additional information was given about the victim.

Orange County's first flu death of season reported

SLO County sees first flu death of season, health officials say

9 flu deaths reported last week in San Diego

SAN DIEGO -- Nine flu-related deaths were reported in San Diego County last week, the County Health and Human Services Agency said Wednesday.

Before news of the additional deaths broke, 11 San Diegans had been confirmed dead by HHSA officials due to flu-related symptoms since the flu season began last July. The nine deaths confirmed Wednesday bring the county's tally of flu-related deaths to 20.

All nine deaths were reported in individuals whose ages ranged from 45 to 88. All but one of those patients, a 57-year-old woman, had underlying medical conditions, health officials said.

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — County health officials say 12 new flu-related deaths have been recorded in the last week, as cases also trend upward.

The new influenza deaths included a 34-year-old East County woman with an underlying medical condition who died from influenza A, according to the County Health and Human Services Agency. This season, there have been 32 deaths in the county related to the flu, compared to 24 deaths at this time last season.

Solano County public health officials have confirmed the first influenza-associated death of an adult in the county for the 2019-2020 influenza season.

“We offer our deepest sympathies to the individual’s loved ones,” said Solano County Health Officer Dr. Bela Matyas, in a county news release. “This personal loss is a reminder that flu can be a serious illness. We encourage residents to protect themselves and others during this flu season by getting a flu shot.”

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Seven more deaths due to complications from influenza have been reported in San Diego County over the last week.

Local health officials said the cases bring San Diego's season death toll to 39. Last week, 1,880 cases were reported, which is 380 fewer than the previous week.

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Health experts say the more immediate concern in San Diego is still the flu despite nationwide concerns over the coronavirus.

So far this flu season, San Diego County has recorded 39 deaths.

Nancy Marquez told 10News Friday her husband, Florentino, is still hospitalized with the flu, which he has been battling since the beginning of the year.

Marquez says her husband's symptoms started lingering for several days beginning around New Year's Eve. Then on Jan. 8, they went to the hospital where Florentino was immediately admitted to the ICU with pneumonia and a failing kidney.

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Seven influenza-related deaths were confirmed last week in San Diego County, bringing the number of fatalities so far this flu season to 57, compared to 30 at this time last year, the Health and Human Services Agency reported Wednesday.

The ages of the patients ranged from 60 to 89, and all had underlying medical conditions, according to the HHSA.

The total number of cases dropped for the third week in a row. The county logged 1,548 cases last week, compared to 1,689 the week before.

San Joaquin County flu deaths this year at 10 as of Feb. 5

More people have been killed this flu season in San Joaquin County that during the same period of time last year.

According to the most recent numbers released by the San Joaquin County Department of Public Health, 10 people have died of the flu this season – which officially began during the 40th week of last year – compared to only 8 through the same time period, which was measured through Feb. 5.

Last year through Feb. 5, all eight of the people who were killed by the flu were between 18 and 64 years old. This year, only two people from that age range have succumb to the effects of the illness – with seven victims being over the age of 65, and one under the age of 18.
