Folsom Middle School Confirms H1N1 Flu Case
Campus Remains Open
POSTED: 7:26 am PDT August 18, 2009

FOLSOM, Calif. -- Folsom Middle School is confirming its first case of the H1N1 virus, leading educators to urge students to take steps to avoid the spread of the flu.

Parents received calls Monday night informing them of the case. Since the case is not part of an outbreak, school will remain open.

The infected student will not return to campus until he or she recovers.

Dr. Glennah Trochet, Sacramento County's health officer, said in a YouTube message that a rise in flu cases is expected as local students turn to school after their summer break.

Health officials are asking students to wash their hands, to cover the mouth when coughing and to stay home if flu symptoms arise.
