The CA DoH website shows the following numbers:

Reported Hospitalized and Fatal Cases of Pandemic (H1N1) 2009 Virus Infections in California
(as of August 12, 2009)

1057 Hospitalizations

104 Fatalities

I suspect that when I compare their county by county totals with the latest media reports, the total will be a bit higher.
