Measles outbreak: Confirmed case at Cal State Channel Islands

Cal State Channel Islands officials confirmed Friday that a student living off campus has been diagnosed with measles.

University officials urged students who think they may have been exposed to get vaccinated. Free measles vaccines will be available before 8 p.m. Friday at 2240 East Gonzales Road in Oxnard, courtesy of the Ventura County Public Health Department.

The sick student visited the campus on Jan. 20, the first day back at school after winter break, said CSU Channel Islands spokeswoman Kim Gregory. The student, who does not live on campus, visited three locations, she added: the Bell Tower building, Del Norte Hall and the John Spoor Broome Library.

The buildings, which are areas of high student traffic, are being disinfected, Gregory said...

Santa Monica High School students and parents were alerted Friday night that a freshman baseball coach had been diagnosed with measles, as the California-centered outbreak continued to spread to other states and Mexico.

School and Los Angeles County health officials immediately investigated the potential exposure to the rest of the campus. But they concluded that because every student on the baseball team had a record of measles immunization, it was unlikely that students could have caught the highly contagious virus...

Measles Outbreak Grows To 95 Cases, 10 Cases In Bay Area

SACRAMENTO (CBS SF) ? The California Department of Public Health reported Wednesday that the measles outbreak that started in Southern California has grown to 95 cases in eight states and Mexico.

The department said 79 of those cases are in California and 10 of those cases involve Bay Area residents. Fifty-two cases can be linked directly to measles exposure at Disneyland.

In the Bay Area, there are six measles cases in Alameda County, two cases in San Mateo County and two cases in Santa Clara County...

Measles cases in California soar

(CNN)Last Wednesday, the number was 59. Nine days later, there are 91 cases of measles in California.

The California Department of Public Health sent out the latest numbers Friday of confirmed cases since December and while the total is still small, the jump was a startling 54 percent in just more than a week.

Most cases -- 58 -- are linked to an outbreak at Disneyland in mid-December. Health officials said 40 of the cases were employees or parkgoers, while 18 of the cases were secondary infections...

Measles outbreak update: 123 cases confirmed in California

The measles outbreak, which erupted in California, has now spread to Solano County, as the number of cases jumped to at least 123 in 11 California counties, seven other states and Mexico.

The California Department of Public Health said on Monday that 107 cases have been confirmed in the state and one case has been confirmed in Solano County.

Health experts said that of the 107 cases, at least 39 can be directly linked to visitors or employees at Disneyland during the holidays, 25 cases were related to family members or people who came in close contact with someone who had the measles, and at least five caught the measles by being in a public area such as an emergency room...

Company officials said they were informed Tuesday about the measles diagnosis and are working with the San Francisco Department of Public Health in managing the situation....

...Officials say the infected person traveled between the Lafayette Station and Montgomery Station in San Francisco during the morning and evening commutes from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, February 4-6.

The person also spent time at the E & O Kitchen and Bar located at 314 Sutter Street in San Francisco on Wednesday evening between 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., February 4th. E & O is fully cooperating with the San Francisco Department of Public Health....
