California Influenza Surveillance Summary
Compared to previous non-pandemic seasons, influenza activity in the 2010–2011 season was
moderate in severity. The magnitude and time course of influenza activity was comparable to what
was seen during previous non-pandemic influenza seasons.

Subtyping results from the RLN indicated that three subtypes, influenza
A (H3), influenza A (2009 H1N1), and influenza B, co-circulated and caused clinical illness
throughout the season. 2 (2.1%) influenza A (2009 H1N1) were found to have an H275Y mutation, which
confers resistance to oseltamivir.
