Cagayan de Oro City (3 November) -- In its intention to intensify awareness on rabies and bird flu especially among school children in the city, the City Veterinary Office (CVO) conducted today an information and education campaign (IEC) to public school teachers and workers from a multi-national firm in the city.
Dr. Perla Asis, officer-in-charge of CVO disclosed that the half-day IEC drive on rabies and bird flu prevention was attended by teachers and supervisors comprising the management committee of the City Schools Division of the Department of Education, Region 10 (DepEd-10).
The CVO will also conduct the same campaign to the employees of Nestle Philippines on Monday, November 6, including teachers and supervisors in all public schools under the Bulua district.
Asis said that the cooperation of the school administrators and the private firms will help them to reach out to school children and the public in the city government?s effort to educate the public along the prevention of bird flu and rabies infection.
The campaign aims to lessen the incidents of rabies among children who are most susceptible to dogbites, as well as bird flu, considered as a globally alarming infection that is transmitted through migratory birds. (City Information Office/ragcom)
