CA, USA: Unusual bird deaths near San Diego; carcass disappears before police arrive

The article focuses on osprey deaths and some are believed to be due to humans killing them, but others are unexplained, including a carcass that disappeared while police were called. The same odd thing is reported in this thread with another species on the other side of the country.

A severe recent uptick in the unexplained deaths of other bird species is mentioned below, too.
