Shasta County -- A sexually transmitted disease outbreak is shocking health officials throughout Shasta County.
The Shasta Health and human services says Syphilis is back and spreading faster than ever before.
"We're now seeing an extremely high number of cases and the numbers are growing," said Venessa Vidovich of Shasta County Human Health.
In 2016, there were 24 reported cases for syphilis within the county and just last year the numbers nearly doubled to 44.
