SCB Holds Avian Flu Briefing

Bandar Seri Begawan - In an effort to provide accurate information on the Avian Flu pandemic, Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) held a special briefing on Pandemic Influenza for its staff, - yesterday afternoon at the 4th floor of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex, in the heart of the capital.


The special lecture on Avian Flu was delivered by Dr Dato Paduka Hj Abd Latif bin Hj Ibrahim, Special Duties Officer at the Ministry of Health, and was attended by some 40 SCB management and senior staff.


Ms Tiew Siew Chuen, the CEO of Standard Chartered Bank in her welcoming speech said that the Bank has always placed a high importance on health and safety; with the briefing on Avian Flu re-emphasising the efforts of the Bank to look after the welfare of its people.


"It is the responsibility of each and every one of us to prevent the outbreak of Avian Flu pandemic, and as part of Standard Chartered Bank's health and safety precautions and procedures, the management and staff members are committed to being responsible for their own health and safety of those around us," she added.


"And to be able to do that, we need to be well informed about Avian Influenza and to take necessary precautions to prevent the occurrence of such pandemic." -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
