I couldn't cut and paste any of this so here's a little summary of what the speakers had to say about their experiences.

The treatment of influenza and its complications as seen in the present epidemic.” The British Homoeopathic Journal. December 1918, No.12.Vol. V111

Dr. Wheeler: There were quite a few straightforward cases of influenza. Those who came in for early treatment did satisfactorily. Baptisia and selenium proved quite useful. Quite a large number of cases had nasal hemorrhage so great the nostrils had to be plugged. Of pneumonia, he said, in every case he has seen, the lower lobe of the left lung had been infected. There was also a type of broncho-pneumonia. In his opinion, there did not seem to be a power in the body to get a good reaction to the disease and they really weren’t able to help those people. He had a couple of successful cases using phosphorus but that it was specifically suitable for right-sided cases. He also noted pulse rate was low out of all proportion to the fever (40-50 beats per minute).
Captain Lowe: he had been directly involved with establishing a prophylactic artificial immunity in some 18000 troops. Details of the work had already been published in the Lancet, Oct. 12, 1918. He felt the flu epidemic hit before sufficient immunity could be developed; but results pointed to a considerably smaller incidence of infection and death in the inoculated people.
Dr. Day: Noted he was seeing 3 types of influenza: 1. Gastric- treated with Baptisia, 2. Nervous- treated with selenium and 3. Respiratory- which would also require bryonia. He noticed that patients who were having isotonic sea-water treatment proved singularly immune to influenza. Either they escaped entirely or had a very slight attack.
Dr. Edith Neild: Noted cases in which she treated the patients with their own sputum, diluted to three with normal saline. The improvement was quite marked and immediate in all cases. She gave 3 doses the first night, and if the temperature rose again, the second night also. Sometimes she gave it on the 3rd night also. She goes on to detail each of her 7 cases.
Dr. McLachlan: Did some speculating about the influenza in general and made an interesting note that all the patients would almost always eat fruit when every other kind of food is repugnant to them.

I found some things of special interest in this article.
1. Most cases of pneumonia were found in the left lung...I wonder why that side?
2. The low pulse rate with high fever?
3. The isotonic sea-water treatment. Is that a nasal wash?
4. Dr. Neild's success with treating the patients with their own diluted sputum. Would that have been something injected or taken orally?
