Scientists visiting Recife to hear cases of microcephaly

Health Department presented data to members of the CDC, US.
Another meeting will be scheduled for the next day to set performance.


Researchers for Disease Control Center (CDC, English Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), the United States, are in Recife knowing microcephaly frame in Pernambuco, on Tuesday (1st). At the meeting, the Pernambuco Health Department showed the Americans the details of the work being developed in the state to contain the spread of malformation of cases.

Scientists are being accompanied by members of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the Ministry of Health. The international body has been informed about the progress of the research of cases of microcephaly and also zika virus in the country. At the meeting with representatives of the Health Department, epidemiological data of microcephaly in the state were presented.

In the coming days, the researchers will know some of reference services for microcephaly in Pernambuco, and will become aware of the whole process that has been developed in the state. The idea is to take knowledge of all that is being done by local experts, from diagnosis to treatment, also passing through investigations to identify reasons of the increase in cases.
