The State Department of Health (Sesab) confirmed on Tuesday (11) the second death from meningitis occurred in Salvador this year. A boy of two years, a resident of Caixa D'?gua, died on Jan. 6 after being admitted to St. Anthony Hospital in the neighborhood of Rome.

The other victim was Patricia Mendes Costa, 24, who died on Monday (10) in Couto Maia Hospital, in the district of Bonfim. She was a resident of Controversy and was received at the clinic early Saturday to Sunday (09).

According to Sesab, the two victims were not vaccinated, although vaccination campaigns carried out last year.
