SOROCABA - THE Epidemiological Surveillance of Artur Nogueira, in the region of Campinas, Sao Paulo, investigates the death of a 55-year-old man possibly caused by the virus H1N1, also known as influenza A. The patient died on Sunday, 10, in Hospital Good Samaritan for complications of the flu. The hospital has confirmed this Tuesday, 12, have forwarded samples for exams at the Instituto Adolfo Lutz, in Sao Paulo, on grounds of suspicion of the disease.
Lins records first death of year for influenza H1N1
The Municipal Department of Health of Lins (SP) confirmed the first death from H1N1 influenza, popularly known as influenza A. The victim is a woman of 33 years who was admitted to the hospital with the symptoms of the disease. In 2013, three people died as a result of the influenza virus in the city.
Last year there were no cases. The symptoms are a common flu, but appear in a violent manner. The annual vaccination against influenza is one of the measures used to prevent the disease. The victim, however, was not part of the group authorized to receive the dose in the public health network. In a note, the Municipal Department of Health stated that the woman was admitted to the emergency of one of the city's hospitals on 14 June and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). She medicated as care protocol, but died on the evening of Thursday (25).
