The Epidemiological Surveillance of Batatais confirmed on Monday (23), the presence of Salmonella in mayonnaise served in a restaurant in town. The episode triggered an outbreak of diarrhea in the city. One report noted the presence of bacteria in six of ten samples taken from people who had the condition of intoxication.
The death of a businessman 55 years, he also ate the food in the restaurant and died of food poisoning, is investigated. As no samples were taken from the victim, the Epidemiological Monitoring of Batatais can not prove that the death has link with the intake of mayonnaise.
