The Secretariat of Health of Paran? (Sesa) has already registered 39 influenza cases since the beginning of the year, and six of them were caused by the Influenza A (H1N1), also known as the swine flu virus.
Other 19 cases were caused by Influenza A (H3N2) and Influenza B subtype, 12-a type of virus rarer. Two cases have not yet had the particular typology. There was no record of death.
the data were disclosed yesterday by Sesa and are the result of the monitoring carried out by the Agency in partnership with the municipal secretariats of health and referral hospitals. Samples are collected from suspected cases and analyzed by the Central Laboratory of the State (Lacen). The received both influences of subtypes A (H1N1), A (H3N2) are more common than subtype B, and are treated with the medicine oseltamivir, commonly known as Tamiflu. The three cases, however, are prevented by immunization with triple vaccine against flu.
according to Sesa, most of the notifications was made in Curitiba and metropolitan region, where, so far, have already been registered nine cases of influenza. The region of Maring?, in the North of the State, is the second in the list with the largest number of occurrences, with eight notifications.
the flu vaccination campaign, which ended on Friday, was extended until the next Tuesday.
