Mirabela population suffers outbreak of itching
-------------------------------------------------
A week ago, 60 residents of Mirabela, the 66 km of Montes Claros, in northern Minas, have itching, skin rashes and blemishes. The situation worries the City Department of Health The causes of the outbreak, which overcrowded St. Sebastian Hospital, are still unknown. The suspicion is that the itch is a reaction to dust released by moths.

The Epidemiological Surveillance of Health Management Januaria was driven to investigate the matter and should have, on Tuesday (15) [maio/2012], a team the city known as the mining capital of corned beef.

The coordinator of the Municipal Epidemiological Surveillance Deividson da Costa Santos, said residents began to show symptoms for 7 days. According to him, in the same period the houses of these people would have been invaded by a small brown moth.

The insect would be appearing at the time the light is on the home. He releases a powder which, in contact with skin, cause the itching, rashes and blemishes.

Doctors are prescribing Mirabela cortisone based drugs to treat adults and children. Many patients have reported immediate recovery. Others, however, continue with the injury.

The Hills-Clarense Mirabela GM was in the weekend. She stayed with the body full of stains. The woman returned to Montes Claros, and will seek a specialist. It failed to work on Monday [14/maio/2012].
