Alert Ministry of Health for necessity of reinforcing vaccination against the flu pandêmica

Partial swinging of the Ministry of Health on the vaccination against the flu H1N1 shows that 12.971.885 persons were even immunized, from 8 of March, when it began the national strategy, them 9h of this Friday. The number represents 22,1 % of the white-public thing appreciated for the first three stages, which belongs to 58.695.070 persons. The fountain of the data is the system of informations of the National Program of Immunizations, which is fed by the State and Municipal General offices of Health. The numbers were presented by the Minister of the Health, José Gomes Temporão, which it alerted for the necessity of reinforcing the immunization in three groups that were affected in important way by the flu pandêmica in 2009. Up to the moment, pregnant and chronic patients with fewer 60 years have covering of 41,1 % and 32,8 %, respectively. In 2009, Brazil registered 2.051 deaths for the flu pandêmica, of which 1.539 (75 %) took place in persons with chronic diseases. Another analysis that attracts attention is that, in the pregnant women, the mortality was a 50 bigger % than in the general population.
Altogether, 189 pregnant ones died in last year. With 66,1 % of covering, up to the moment, the children of 6 months to persons younger than 2 years have an a little better performance. But also it is important reinforces the vaccination of this group, which had the biggest tax of incidence of the disease in last year (154 cases for 100 thousand inhabitants). “ The vaccine is absolutely safe and efficient. The averse effects, which are rare, are shown in the light form, like pain in the place of the application, headache, fever and tiredness. For the persons who make part of the priority group, the danger is not to take the vaccine, but to take the risk of catching the flu ”, said Temporão. The Minister remembered that the security of the vaccine is shown up by 93,7 % of covering between the workers of the services of health – one of the public ones of the first stage, together with the natives, who have covering of 56,5 %, up to the moment. In 2010, up to the day 3 of April, there were registered 361 cases of persons interned with respiratory serious disease in the whole country.
More than the half (56,2 %) it took place in the Northern region (203 cases). In the same period, there were 50 deaths, in the states of the Pará (25), Paraná (8), Amazon (6), Amapá (2), Maranhão (2), Minas Gerais (2), Goiás (1), Piauí (1), Ceará (1), Laborer (1) and Sao Paulo (1). Temporão also alerted for the circulation of rumours on the security of the vaccine, principally in the Internet. “ Informations of this type are a nonsense and they reveal deep ignorance. The population must trust his doctor and the authorities of health, not any text, written one is not known for whom, to circulate in the world-wide net of computers ”. REGIONAL EVALUATION – Maranhão, Paraná, Saint Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul and Goiás are the states that, even 9h of this Friday, had the highest vaccinal coverings, when there are considering the white-public ones of the first two stages (to see picture I lower).
However, in the technical evaluation of the Ministry of Health, this is not a number to be commemorated, because the vaccination of the groups of the second stage – pregnant, childish and chronic patients – should have been finished by day 2 of April. The vaccination of these persons was postponed for 23 of April, when it finishes the third stage turned to adults from 20 to 29 years. This age group was the one that had the biggest proportional number of cases of respiratory serious disease caused by the new virus in last year: 23 % of the total of 46.100 cases, in the whole country. The group also concentrated 20 % of the deaths occurred in 2009. For the third stage, the covering is in 10 %, up to the moment, but this is still a very preliminary number, since the vaccination of these persons began in the last day 5 of April.

INFLUENZA
Goias stands out in the national position
vaccination coverage against influenza A
During the III Meeting of the National Council of Secretaries of Health (Conass) held in Brasilia on Wednesday, 28, Health Minister Jose Gomes praised the efforts of States in the Campaign of Vaccination against Influenza A. Currently the state of Goias ranks first in immunization coverage in the priority group that includes pregnant women, and secondly with the immunization of children aged 6 months to 2 years old.
At a news conference on Wednesday, 28, the Superintendent of Policies for Integral Health, Elizabeth Araujo, highlighted the success that the state is getting during the immunization campaign. "To have an idea, 83% of pregnant women and 116% of children have been immunized with application of about one million and 600 doses. Beyond that satisfactory coverage, the state is still comfortable for their epidemiological situation, with 72 suspected cases, three confirmed cases of Influenza A. Of this quantity, only one death was reported so far. "
Concerning the increase in reported cases from 111 to 170, the superintendent explained that climate issues such as high temperatures and low humidity have influenced this situation.
Despite the success of immunization coverage in Goias, the minister stressed the need of pregnant women joining the campaign, because the fatality rate is 50% higher than in the general population. He urges people aged 30 and 39 years to seek a health unit to receive the vaccine between 10 and 21 May. "We are reaching 40 million people vaccinated, and the balance is positive. If you consider the population groups that are being vaccinated now, we have a coverage of 60%. This allows for an optimistic vision for Brazil to crave the targets of this vaccination, "he said.

Prosecutor
At the news conference, Elizabeth Araujo, stated on the injunction of the Public Ministry (MP) that determines the immunization of the entire population of Goi?s The Ministry of Health (MOH) Explanation Note sent to federal prosecutors arguing that the Union has no able to provide extra doses, because the makers of swine flu vaccine have no raw material available for a new acquisition. "So the state is unable to perform and set a new timetable for the remainder of the population, for not having enough vaccine on the market. For everyone to be immunized would need more than 3 million doses, "said Elizabeth.
