The Brazilian Ministry of Health included healthy people between 30 and 39 years of age in the vaccination campaign against influenza A (H1N1), which begins March 8 and will conclude on May 21 ahead, reported Prensa Latina.

Announcing the official decision, Health Minister Jose Gomes Temporao said that in November, when they made the purchase of the vaccine, there was an increase of supply in international markets that allowed access to a greater number of doses.

Moreover, Temporao announced it has doubled from seven to 14 the number of labs to diagnose influenza A (H1N1) and explained that this is a wider network that will support the process of immunization.

He announced further expansion of available drugs to combat the disease and noted that 20 million doses will be distributed by prescription in a 600 units comprising the People's Pharmacy program.

Temporao added yet they bought monitors and ventilators to increase the beds in the ICUs, with the objective of meeting the most severe cases.

Brazil begins vaccination against influenza A (H1N1)

Brasilia, March 8 (PL) Ministry of Health vaccination begins today influenza A (H1N1) and waits until May to come to immunize some 90 million people against the disease, which last year killed 705 thousand Brazilians.

Between 10 and May 21 will be the turn of Brazilians between 30 and 39 years old.

To comply with the campaign, the Brazilian government purchased 113 million doses of vaccine, so there will be a reserve for emergencies.
