Since the beginning of the outbreak of microcephaly linked to Zika virus, Bahia has confirmed 200 cases of malformation until the 12th of March. Information is the Secretary of the Bahia State Health Department, which released today (16) the microcephaly bulletin in the state.
According to the survey, there were 942 cases of head circumference less than 32 cm, in 158 municipalities in Bahia.
Of the total, 320 of them were investigated, showing that 200 were confirmed and 120 cases dropped. According to the balance sheet, there are more than 600 notifications throughout the state to be analyzed through imaging.
They recorded also 24 deaths microcephaly in 17 cities, mostly in Salvador that killed six babies, due to the malformation.
