Brandon Valley School Has Probable Bacterial Meningitis Case

Story Updated: Sep 24, 2009 at 6:25 PM CDT

Officials with the Brandon Valley School District say a student has a probable case of bacterial meningitis. Officials say luckily it is not the highly contagious variety of meningitis.

The school is in contact with the department of health and they are not activating an emergency response for this case because they say it does not require contact management.

David Pappone the school superintendent said, "they investigated the case and determined that it is a probable case but it is not of the type that is highly contagious so they were not planning an emergency response because they did not think that contact management was necessary."

Officials say parents will be notified if anything changes but if your child comes down with a fever, severe headache, and a stiff neck you need to talk to your doctor.
