Boston man dies from swine flu

BOSTON -- Boston public health officials say a 65-year-old man has become the first person to die from swine flu in the city this fall.

The Boston Public Health Commission said on Tuesday that the man had several underlying health conditions. He was hospitalized Oct. 14 and died 17 days later.

Boston health officials say they were notified Nov. 9 that state laboratory tests results came back positive for swine flu.

The man was the state's 14th officially confirmed swine flu death since the outbreak began in the spring. He is the fifth victim in Boston.
