Bosnia Covid 19 - 150+ cases; 1 fatality

SARAJEVO (REUTERS) - Bosnia declared a nationwide state of emergency over the new coronavirus on Tuesday (March 17) to enable coordination of emergency activities between its two autonomous regions, Prime Minister Zoran Tegeltija said.

The Bosniak-Croat Federation and the Serb Republic separately declared emergency situations on Monday and introduced measures to halt the spread of the disease. Bosnia has reported 26 cases of the new virus so far, with no fatalities.

Another positive test for coronavirus was confirmed at the University of Sarajevo Clinical Center on Saturday evening for a patient from Travnik, was confirmed to Klix.ba news portal.

The total number of infected people in our country climbed to 94. Eleven samples were tested and only one was positive, the one from the city of Travnik. This is a person who was present at the celebration of the anniversary of the Igman company in Konjic, where several people were infected, including the director of the company, Dahid Muratbegovic.

The other seven tests from Travnik and one each from Sarajevo, Gorazde and Zavidovici were negative. The situation by cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina is as follows: Banja Luka – 45, Sarajevo – 3, Mostar – 7, Zenica – 4, Konjic – 10, Celinac – 3, Laktaši – 2, Bihac – 4, Tesanj – 2, Orasje – 1, Gorazde – 3, Srbac – 1, Prnjavor – 1, Ribnik -1, Modrica – 1, Bosanska Dubica-1, Prijedor – 1, Bijeljina – 1, Derventa – 1 and Bosanska Gradiska – 1, Travnik – 1.

The first coronavirus death in Bosnia and Herzegovina has been confirmed in Bihac on Saturday.

Republika Srpska entity (RS) Minister of Health and Social Welfare Alen Seranic informed the public that 13 new coronavirus infections have been reported in that entity, Vijesti.ba news portal reports.

A total of 41 samples were tested, of which 13 were newly infected, Seranic said.

Another person was tested again to confirm the presence of the virus, but it does not belong to new cases.

In doing so, the number of people infected in BiH has increased to 150.
