Three Imported Cases of Chikungunya Confirmed in Santa Cruz
Santa Cruz, July 14 (ABI) -. Departmental Director of Health Service (SITES), Joaquin Monasterio, confirmed Monday that the three cases of chikungunya detected in Santa Cruz were imported from the Dominican Republic.
"We (don't) have the autochthonous chikungunya virus. These three cases there was a family who are traveled to Central America on holiday and that it is an endemic area, especially in Dominican Republic," said Abbey.
The three adults are safe and blocking VENUES made putting on alert cases nine apples radius of where infected people live.
Dengue and chikungunya are transmitted by the same mosquito, Aedes aegypti on.
Chikungunya attacks the joints like wrists, knees, ankles and infected has some spots on the skin, but the disease is not fatal.
