The Ministry of Health released a new epidemiological report on monkeypox infections. The report details that to date the active cases amounted to 117 and 12 people have already managed to overcome monkeypox. After showing the presence of four infected people this Wednesday, the total number of people who have or had the virus reached 129.
In the detail by department, the report explains that in the department of La Paz there are six positive cases for monkeypox, Oruro has not presented cases so far and Potosí remained with only one infected. In the department of Cochabamba, seven positive cases have been reported so far, Chuquisaca maintains its only infected and Tarija has not reported patients with monkeypox.
The department of Santa Cruz continues to rise in cases of the viral disease, so far 114 patients have been reported, while Beni and Pando continue without reporting monkeypox infections.
Based on current data on monkeypox, person-to-person transmission occurs through close and prolonged contact. Routes of transmission include respiratory droplets to which the individual is exposed after prolonged face-to-face contact or intimate physical contact. Direct contact with infectious lesions or other body fluids can also be a means of contagion or through contact with clothing or sheets contaminated with crusts or body fluids.
Let's remember that when a person contracts monkeypox, they can present: fever, headache, muscle aches, back pain, lack of energy and swollen lymph nodes. After these symptoms, the following appear: rashes that can last from two to three weeks and can be located on the face, the palms of the hands, the soles of the feet, the eyes, the mouth, the neck, the groin and the regions body genitals. Symptoms usually last two to three weeks.
