Great Blue Herons; mother, father and 5 eggs; mother has been attacked by a Great Horned Owl several times but all is well so far. The male often brings the female a branch or stick for the nest.

Baby bird cuteness abounds

The eaglets are getting really big; mostly they eat and sleep and grow. They aren't being fed as often now but the meals are much larger. They are able to take a few steps without falling down, showing interest in their surroundings, learning adult behaviors. Here is dad with the kids; one is taking an interest in the fish but still not self-feeding.




The long-awaited baby Herons have begun hatching; so far we have 2, plus one pipping. There was a fear that one of the eggs was damaged in an owl attack; but that proved to be ungrounded.
