Bird Flu in Egypt - Fourth national campaign for combating bird flu in November

The fourth national campaign for immunizing poultry against the bird flu will start in next November, said Head of the General Organization for Veterinary Services, Dr. Hamed Samaha.

He noted that 75 million doses were provided as a first stage for immunizing poultry and poultry house raising as well as in farms against the avian flu.

Dr. Samaha made it clear that the campaigns shall be preceded by informing symposiums all over Egypt to make citizens in the countryside, especially house wives in villages, aware of how to deal with poultry and importance of vaccination.

He stressed that 2000 vets, 1200 laborers and 300 drivers will participate in the campaigns through committees of immunization reaching 577 ones on the level of the republic on daily basis.

Samaha added that 166 trainees have received training courses through 20 programs on combating bird flu in the organization's training centers spread all over Egypt.
