RJD slams govt for encephalitis deaths
PATNA: RJD has said it was unfortunate that state health minister was fiddling in Gujarat when the CM was visiting China, as a result of which there was nobody to take care of kids dying of encephalitis in different parts of Bihar. In Muzaffarpur alone, 27 kids have lost their lives but the state's health department was sleeping, the party said.
In a joint statement, RJD MP Ramkripal Yadav and national president of Yuva RJD Alok Mehta said that districts like Sheohar, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Siwan and Gopalganj, apart from Muzaffarpur, are badly in grip of the disease. But, nobody was bothered even as the disease was taking a heavy toll.
They said the officials of the health department geared up and visited Muzaffarpur only after the CM arrived here from China tour. Despite the direction of the principal secretary of health department, neither any special ward was created in Shri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) nor any child specialist and paramedic was deputed there to take care of the kids, the RJD leaders said. Moreover, the government focused only on Muzaffarpur, whereas other districts are also badly affected by the disease.
The two leaders demanded that both the health minister and CM explain why was the government in deep slumber when the kids were dying in Bihar.
