Foot and mouth outbreak in Chukha and Paro now under control

25 February, 2011 - Seven people in Samtse were given anti rabies vaccines after being bitten earlier this week by a suspected rabid cat that eventually died.

According to dzongkhag veterinary officials, the cat?s owner reported on February 22 that his feline had started behaving abnormally since February 20, and bit seven people at the Samtse army camp.

The dzongkhag livestock and veterinary officials visited the camp and advised the owner to keep the cat under observation but it died the next day...
