30-05-2020125 new cases were reported on Friday, May 29. Of these, 77 live in Flanders, 34 in Wallonia and 14 in Brussels. We have no information about the place of residence of the other 0 cases. This brings the total number of confirmed infected persons to 58,186.
Furthermore, the situation is as follows:
  • A total of 890 patients are currently admitted to hospitals. There were 29 new recordings in the past 24 hours.
  • There are a total of 173 patients in intensive care, which is a further decrease with 14 patients in the past 24 hours.
  • 15,769 patients have been discharged from the hospital and declared cured since March 15, an increase from 87 in the past 24 hours.
  • A total of 9 453 deaths were reported, an increase from 23 in the past 24 hours. Of those 23, 13 people died in the hospital and 8 in a residential care center. In the latter group, 100% was confirmed by a COVID test.
  • Of the total of 9 453 persons who died, 48% died in the hospital, 51% in a residential care center, 0.3% at home and 0.6% in another place. The hospital deaths are all confirmed cases. The deaths in residential care centers are both confirmed (25%) and suspected (75%) cases.

The Group of Experts for the Exit Strategy (GEES) will deliver a report to the ministers, with a general overview of the topics to be discussed on Wednesday. The meeting is set to start a 9:00 AM, and this is what will likely be on the agenda.

This latest meeting comes at a changed time for the country, following reports of hundreds of people partying on Place Flagey in the Brussels this weekend.
