B.C. health officials announced 194 new cases of COVID-19 and four more deaths on Wednesday, marking the second day in a row that B.C. has seen fewer than 200 new cases of the disease.

In a written statement, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix said there are currently 2,662 active cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus in B.C., the lowest level in seven months.

A total of 246 people are in hospital, including 70 in intensive care — the lowest number of overall hospitalizations since March 1.

Overall hospitalizations, which typically lag behind spikes and dips in new cases, are down by about 17 per cent from last Wednesday, when 296 people were in hospital with the disease.

The number of patients in intensive care is down by about 28 per cent from 97 a week ago...

B.C. has recorded 199 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours — the third day in a row that the province recorded daily new case numbers below 200.

Two more people in B.C. have died. For the first time in a long while, fewer than 100 cases were recorded in the Fraser Health region, previously considered a hot spot for the virus.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said Thursday during a live news conference that 71.8 per cent of adults over 18 have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, along with 68.9 per cent of those 12 and up.

Henry provided further information on how B.C. residents will receive their second dose of COVID-19 vaccine, reiterating guidelines released earlier this week from the NationaI Advisory Committee on Immunization about mixing certain vaccine types.

Henry said that it is safe and effective to receive a different type of mRNA vaccine for a second dose where necessary because they use similar technology...

B.C. health officials announced 183 new cases of COVID-19 and one more death on Friday.

In a written statement, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix said there are currently 2,453 active cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus in B.C.

A total of 224 people are in hospital, with 59 in intensive care.

Overall hospitalizations, which typically lag behind spikes and dips in new cases, are down by 23 per cent from last Friday, when 292 people were in hospital with the disease. The number of patients in intensive care is down by about 25 per cent from 79 a week ago

The provincial death toll from the disease is now 1,710 lives lost out of 145,049 confirmed cases.

Health officials have confirmed one new outbreak of COVID-19 at Kelowna General Hospital.

So far, 3,488,884 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered, including 256,725 second doses. More than 72 per cent of B.C. adults and nearly 70 per cent of people over the age of 12 have now received their first shot...

B.C. health officials signalled Monday that the end of the province's emergency response to COVID-19 is in sight as they announced 481 new cases over the weekend and 12 more deaths.

An average of about 160 cases and four deaths have been recorded each day since the last update on Friday.

"These losses are an important reminder of what we have to gain," Deputy Provincial Health Officer Réka Gustafson told the public at a live briefing.

She said there are now 199 people in hospital with the disease, including 63 in intensive care — 38 of whom require mechanical ventilators to breathe. The overall number of patients in hospital has fallen to its lowest level since Oct. 24.

In all, there are 2,102 active cases of the novel coronavirus across B.C., the lowest number since Nov. 17...

B.C. health officials announced 148 new cases of COVID-19 and three more deaths on Wednesday.

In a written statement, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix said there are currently 1,975 active cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus in B.C. It's the first time since Oct. 22 that active cases have fallen below 2,000.

A total of 195 people are in hospital, including 47 who are in intensive care — both lower numbers than anything B.C. has seen since mid-November.

Another 153 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in B.C. and four more people have died of the disease, health officials announced Thursday, as they spoke of a "dramatic drop" in transmission in recent weeks.

There are now 1,910 active cases of the novel coronavirus across B.C., Provincial Health Officer Bonnie Henry announced during a live briefing.

A total of 176 people are in hospital with COVID-19, she said, including 49 who are in intensive care.

Henry presented new epidemiological modelling on Thursday, showing that many communities in B.C. have seen "little to no cases" of the virus recently.

"Starting in the middle of April, we have a dramatic drop in cases overall," Henry said. She said that was closely followed by a drop in hospitalizations.

However, some parts of the Lower Mainland are still seeing significant transmission, along with outlying hot spots like Grand Forks...

B.C. health officials announced 180 new cases of COVID-19 and one more death on Friday.

In a written statement, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix said there are currently 1,880 active cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus in B.C.

A total of 162 people are in hospital, with 45 in intensive care.

Overall hospitalizations, which typically lag behind spikes and dips in new cases, are down by 28 per cent from last Friday, when 224 people were in hospital with the disease.

The number of patients in intensive care is down by about 24 per cent from 59 a week ago.

Henry said the latest numbers are proof that the province's vaccination program is working as it should.

"What we have seen is that getting fully immunized with your first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccine is making the difference, helping to dramatically slow the spread in our communities," she said.

"Let's keep slowly and purposefully moving forward to allow all of us to put the COVID-19 pandemic behind us."

One new outbreak has been recorded at Rotary Manor Dawson Creek.

On Monday, B.C. health officials announced 277 new cases of COVID-19 and four more deaths over the last three days, hours after they held a press conference to tell British Columbians the province is on track for the second step of its reopening plan.

That's an average of 92 new cases a day confirmed this weekend.

In a written statement, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix said there are currently 1,537 active cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus in B.C.

A total of 136 people are in hospital, with 42 in intensive care.

B.C. health officials announced 108 new cases of COVID-19 and no additional deaths on Tuesday.

In a written statement, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix said there are currently 1,496 active cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus in B.C.

A total of 139 people are in hospital, including 39 in intensive care.

Overall hospitalizations, which typically lag behind spikes and dips in new cases, are down by nearly 32 per cent from last Tuesday, when 203 people were in hospital with the disease.

The number of patients in intensive care is down by about 32 per cent from 57 a week ago, hitting the lowest level since Nov. 8.

The continuing downward trend in B.C.'s caseload and hospitalizations comes as B.C. enters Step 2 of its reopening plan, loosening some restrictions on travel, fitness and outdoor gatherings.

"As has been the case since the start of the pandemic, our success in this next phase is dependent on all of us doing our part to keep COVID-19 low and slow," Henry and Dix said.

"If you are considering visiting another community for recreational travel, be aware that some people and some communities are moving at a slower pace — a pace that works for them. B.C. health officials announced 120 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday and said one more person has died from the disease.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said the latest death was a person in their 80s who was infected during an outbreak at Richmond Hospital.

There are now 1,451 active cases of the novel coronavirus across B.C. Of those, 131 patients are in hospital, including 44 in intensive care. The number of patients in hospital has fallen by about 26 per cent in the last week, while the number in intensive care has dropped by 10 per cent.

As B.C. continues to open up again, Henry said the numbers show an ongoing decrease in transmission.

COVID-19 numbers continued to fall in B.C. Monday, as health officials announced 229 cases new cases and three more deaths over the last three days.

In the last 24 hours, the province confirmed just 45 new cases, marking the lowest one-day total since August of 2020. The seven-day rolling average of new cases has now dipped below 100 for the first time since October.

In a written statement marking the first update on the pandemic since Friday, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix said there are currently 1,204 active cases of the novel coronavirus in B.C.

"While we are progressing through BC's Restart plan, let's remember that the virus is still circulating in communities, here in B.C. and in neighbouring provinces and territories," Henry and Dix said.

There have been no deaths from COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, while 56 new cases were confirmed, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced Tuesday, as she revealed that more than one million people have now been fully vaccinated against the novel coronavirus.

Speaking from Prince George, Henry said there are 1,150 active cases of the novel coronavirus across B.C. Of those, 111 patients are in hospital, including 41 who are in intensive care.

According to the latest numbers, 77.7 per cent of all adults and 76.2 per cent of those 12 and up have received a first dose, and the percentage of those who have received both shots is rising rapidly.

As of Tuesday, 4,511,923 doses of vaccine have been administered in B.C., including 1,001,192 second doses.

Henry said there has been a fluctuation in supplies of the Pfizer-BioNtech and Moderna mRNA vaccines, but everyone awaiting their second shot should not be concerned if they have to mix and match their doses.

"Really, these are the same vaccines," Henry said.

Across the province, anyone who has not yet registered to be immunized is encouraged by health officials to do so now...

British Columbia reported 75 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, along with three additional deaths as the number of B.C. adults to be fully vaccinated surpassed 25 per cent.

It brought the seven-day average for new cases down to 79.

The number of active cases dropped slightly to 1,111.

There were 113 people in hospital, 34 of whom were in critical or intensive care.

B.C. health officials announced 72 new cases of COVID-19 and two more deaths on Friday, with 108 people in hospital, the lowest number since Nov. 6, when 104 people were hospitalized with the disease.

The province's seven day rolling average of new cases is also at its lowest point (75) since mid-August 2020. A total of 37 people are in intensive care, down 23 per cent from a week ago.

In a written statement, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix said there are currently 1,096 active cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus in B.C.

A new COVID-19 outbreak has been declared in the high intensity rehabilitation unit at Laurel Place in Surrey.

Fraser Health says four patients have tested positive for the virus and that the outbreak is limited to one unit, which is temporarily closed to admissions. The health authority has notified patients and their families.

Five people died of COVID-19 in B.C. over the weekend, including someone in their 20s, B.C. health officials announced on Monday as they unveiled the latest modelling that suggests a dramatic drop in transmission of the disease.

During the first update on the pandemic since Friday, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said another 145 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in B.C. over the last three days — an average of 48 cases a day.

Henry presented modelling that shows a steep and sustained decline in B.C.'s caseload, and said she was heartened to see that some pockets of the province were completely free from new cases in the last week.

Henry also noted that deaths from COVID-19 have stayed relatively low even during the punishing third wave of the pandemic, which she said "reflects the ongoing durable protection from immunization."

There are now 930 active cases of the novel coronavirus across the province. Of those, 107 people are in hospital, including 37 who are in intensive care.

To date, 4,886,709 doses of vaccine have been administered, including 1,320,194 second doses. A total of 78.1 per cent of adults and 76.8 per cent of people over the age of 12 have now received at least one shot.

Though some appointments had to be rebooked during the hot weather this weekend, a new high of 427,000 doses of vaccine were administered across the province last week...

B.C. reports 29 new COVID cases as province confirms move to Step 3 of restart plan

Officials in British Columbia reported 29 new cases of COVID-19 and no additional deaths on Tuesday, the same day they announced plans to move to Stage 3 of the province’s restart plan on July 1.

Of the new cases, seven were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, seven were in the Fraser Health region, three were in Island Health, and 10 were in Interior Health. There were no new cases in Northern Health.

The report brought the seven-day moving average for new cases in B.C. down to 61 — the lowest since August.

The province’s COVID-19 death toll remains at 1,754.

There have been a total of 147,578 COVID-19 cases in B.C. since the start of the pandemic, of which 876 are active...
